Allianz Worldwide Care partners with InRoomMD™ to offer additional services in the USA |

22nd January 2008 International health insurance provider Allianz Worldwide Care has announced a partnership with US-based InRoomMD™ to offer new services to groups with employees who are either based in or travelling within the US. From the 1st January 2008, all new and renewing groups (with the exception of some third party administered groups) will automatically have access to a range of InRoomMD™ services in the US, at no additional cost. Through InRoomMD™, insured members will have direct access to a qualified physician during out-of-hours periods or while travelling. Access to the InRoomMD network of physicians will help to contain the cost of corporate client’s medical claims by avoiding any non-essential visits to Emergency Rooms. For insured members, this service will provide fast, efficient and convenient access to appropriate medical care. Many people visit Hospital Emergency Rooms simply because they can’t access their normal GP. They may be travelling (far away from their normal GP) or need medical assistance outside of their GP’s normal working hours. However going to an Emergency Room for non-emergency care can be costly as well as inconvenient, particularly in the US.It is estimated that 33 percent of all Emergency Room visits are semi-urgent or non-emergency, and could have been treated on an out-patient basis. The cost of a non-emergency US Emergency Room visit can run as high as $3,000, versus InRoomMD’s cost of $200-$500. InRoomMD offers immediate access to a qualified physician, at night, during weekends or when travelling, avoiding any unnecessary trips to a hospital Emergency Room as well as the possibility of long waiting times.
