When something happens far from home it may be
necessary to transport a patient to the nearest appropriate medical
centre if the required medical care isn't available in the local area
(the quality of
international healthcare varies widely).
Moving a seriously ill or badly injured person can be very difficult,
and it carries health risks of its own. Allianz Worldwide Care will
determine the safest and most cost effective transport method for the
medical evacuation, having regard to the patient’s medical condition.
The cost of such a procedure can easily be imagined. When not covered by a full
expat health insurance
policy, it's not unknown for the family of the evacuee to take out a
second mortgage or apply for a large loan to cover the cost. At Allianz
Worldwide Care, we'd prefer that nobody was ever put in such a terrible
situation, especially when they've got the health and wellbeing of a
loved one to worry about.
Medical evacuation is just one of the
international medical insurance options included in our policies.
