As a Care Champion, Shane is one of the first points of contact for our customers when they have any queries or problems that need solving. We sat down with Shane to find out more about his film obsession and his life at Allianz Care.
What is it about the movies that you love so much?
‘There’s something magic about getting lost in a movie. Going to the cinema and watching a film just takes you out of the present and you get lost in what’s happening. It’s a complete escape!’
Do you have a favourite Oscar moment from this year?
‘I loved all of it. The music, the fashion, everything. I just think it’s a great excuse to get your friends together and just have a chat and a little fiesta. That’s probably my favourite thing about the Oscars.
If you were to win your own Oscar in Allianz Care, what would it be for?
‘Probably Biggest Personality or Biggest Joker. I’m not shy at all and I love working with people. Allianz Care is all about the people and we have an amazing team so it’s hard not to enjoy your time there and buzz off all the different personalities.’
Shane is definitely a people person and his infectious positive attitude makes him a beloved member of the team. He’s just one of the people behind our global network of Care Champions who are here to help you.
What do you find most rewarding about your role at Allianz Care?
‘Feeling like you’ve really done some good. Every day is so different and everytime the phone rings, you never know what to expect. One minute you could be arranging a crown or a filling for an employee, and the next minute you’re trying to help someone get evacuated from a country lacking medical facilities so they can get urgent care. No day is the same and when you have really helped someone and gone that extra mile, you can’t beat that feeling.
What do you think makes a Care Champion?
‘Being open, positive and a good listener. Everyone on the team loves dealing with people and doing what we can to help. No matter the situation, big or small, it’s always being there and willing to listen. It helps if you love a good chat too.’
If you had to give an Allianz Care customer one piece of advice, what would it be?
‘Never be afraid to call. Even if you just need some support or some advice. We’re surrounded by a brilliant team of doctors and we’re all constantly giving each other advice so we can handle anything. I think sometimes people can forget that yes, we are Allianz Care, but we’re all normal people too. We just want to help.’
